Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) said that the Delhi Metro launched new cashless payment system for passengers. Passengers can buy token and recharge their smart cards through mobile banking application and online banking.
The Cashless Payment service can be available for all mobile banking applications which are provided by HDFC Bank. In an official statement of DMRC said that the Delhi Metro Rail Corp launched the cashless token sale / smart card recharge facility by using Bharat Quick Response (QR) code. This QR Code will be displayed at all token counters and customer care centres of metro stations.

The new Cashless Payment service will be available for all mobile banking applications which have been powered by HDFC Bank. Now the passenger has to select ‘pay through QR’ option in mobile banking app and capture the Bharat Quick Response (QR) code and enter the fare to make payment.
The QR Code will be displayed at all token counters and customer care centres of metro stations. The Cashless Payment system is currently available at five Metro stations which are Rajiv Chowk, Rajendra Place, Seelampur, Pitampura and Nehru Place, and will be introduced later in all metro stations.
Mangu Singh Managing Director at Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) said: “we are making all efforts to push the cashless transactions initiated by the central government. The new cashless payment facility makes more convenient and gives fast access to the passengers.”
Recently Bharat QR Code was launched by the government to promote cashless transactions and this code works with all major banks in India. It is a form of a barcode that uses the bank’s information (merchant name and account number) required for the payment, the statement read.
